Boo Boo Hill

When we last left you, we were at Warderick Wells Cay at the park welcome station and HQ. After blogging, reading our mail, and enjoying the viewfrom the porch of the park HQ, the group hiked up to Boo Boo Hill. Boo Boo Hill is where all the cruisers passing through this area make upsigns and place them at the top of the highest point on Warderick Wells Cay. As you can see from the picture, Stephanie did a great job on oursign with the help of our Dremel tool and an afternoon of hard work. Cruisers have been leaving the names of their boats up there for years, carved or painted on anything from driftwood, to fishing floats, to old outboard motors. We all left our signs to say we were here to all who come to this special place. It is told that a boatload of missionaries wrecked off Warderick Wells and are buried on Boo Boo Hill and the cairn on Boo Boo Hill wa erected long ago in their honor. Next we are headed to Cambridge Cay which is still in the Park. As always, we will take you with us.

Dive trip

Tuesday 4/21 we moved from our anchorage at Hog Cay to Cambridge Cay at the Southern end of the park. After we arived we put the tenders in the water and snorkeled what is called The Sea Aquarium at O'Briens Cay. It is named The Sea Aquarium because it has an amazing variety of fish in a sheltered cove. It is so great to experience healthy living reefs. Tammy and Doug stayed at the North anchorage so they could communicate with family back home because Tammy had a death in the family. Colleen came aboard September Song and moved to Cambridge with us and spent the night because John, her other half was flying into Staniel Cay after taking care of some business back home. Wednesday morning Life's2Short picked up Colleen and they headed to Staniel Cay where they met John. It was great having Colleen aboard. Life's2Short came over Tuesday evening and the five of us dined on what was left of Todd's tuna in pasta and garlic butter and had a great time, but stayed up way too late.On the return trip to Cambridge, "THE FISHERWOMAN" (Colleen) and crew caught two dolphin to replenish our fish supply, while Brenda (master fish finder) was at the helm of Life's2Short.Wednesday, while Life's2Short was making the trip back and forth, Gypsies, Tide Hiker, Rickshaw and September Song went snorkeling and diving(I got out the Hooka Max) to Rocky Dundas, which has two caves that legend has it were sacred sites for the Lucayans, and a coral reef. Next wewent to Tom's Elkhorn Reef which features rare elkhorn coral. The next stop was Coral Garden Reef which has soft coral, coral heads and lots offish. The last stop was The Sea Aquarium with its amazing variety of fish and while I was diving and looking into small pockets, I came nose to nose with a shark who was sleeping. (HELLO!) The Exumas have some of the most beautiful reefs I have ever seen other than on TV specials. That night we all had dinner on Tide Hiker, but I won't bore you with the delicious details.
