I thought we were alone tonight at anchor. The Marines decided to do some night training. They have been bringing troops and equipment in by helicopter on the shore in front of us for the last two hours. I tried to take some night shots, but it's hard to get a good shot of a moving target at night. I would have used the fill in flash, but I didn't want to get shot at or arrested.

Speaking of Osprey in my last post, we are anchored just off the ICW in Mile Hammock Bay. This anchorage is in the Camp Lejuene Marine Base in the middle of their attack force practice area and bombing range. When anchored here, you sometimes feel you are in a war zone. This is one of those times. Ospreys (no, not the bird) and helicopters flying around, two black inflatables, and sounds of bombing in the distance. The light wasn't flashing when we entered the area! Do you suppose it's flashing now? Incoming, INCOMING!!!!!
The first two pictures were taken this summer and the second two were taken today as we traveled to our anchorage. As we traveled North this summer, we saw hundreds of osprey nests with babies and the adults fishing like crazy to keep them fed. Now that we have the pointy end South, the nests are empty, waiting for spring when the osprey return, rebuild their nests, start a new family, and do it all over again without anyone telling them how or when to do it. Nature is so amazing!
We said goodbye to New Bern at first light today to a beautiful sunrise and a gorgeous flat calm day. The sunrises over the water are so beautiful. We never get tired of them. New Bern was a fun stop. We will be back.
Cassie and Godiva have their spots while we travel. Godiva on the settee couch on the fly bridge and Cassie under Mom's helm chair. After we are under way, Stephanie fixes breakfast for us on the fly bridge and then around 10:30, we all get a cookie for a snack. Life is tough! Next stop, Morehead City, NC.

We are docked in New Bern, NC for a few days. What a beautiful town and fun stop. It is the second oldest city in NC, founded in 1710. Great restaurants, including a fabulous five star restaurant here at our marina, Bars, stores to explore, beautiful old houses, and a Saturday Farmers Market. We love the farmers markets! New Bern was founded by the Swiss entrepreneur Christophe de Graffenreid from Bern Switzerland, and he named it New Bern. Bern in Swiss means, bear and as we walked the town, we found dozens of bears.
We left Ocracoke Island this morning after a fun three days and had a beautiful, calm cruise to our anchorage on the South River. We pulled out some mahi we caught outside of George Town, Exumas and put it on the grill and some fresh sweetcorn from the farmers market. After a delicious dinner, We watched a beautiful sunset over our anchorage ending another perfect day. As the song says, "if your lucky enough to live on blue water, your lucky enough". Tomorrow, we head to New Bern for three days.

Time for you....and me to catch up!
Since we arrived back in the US from the Bahamas, I haven't posted to my blog. Yes, I got your e-mails etc. I have been posting to Facebook, (which some of you are friends with me and see my posts on a regular basis) so I thought to catch you up, I would copy a lot of my Facebook posts to my blog to catch you up with us. It's been a fun summer coming up the East Coast and in the Chesapeake and now, with the pointy end South. I didn't want to leave those of you not on Facebook with me out.
Remember, you will need to click on older posts to see them all. Go get a drink and I hope you enjoy my catch up blog posts.
