Fun in the Keys

We always enjoy our time in the Keys during our winter layover from cruising. One of the events that we always look forward to is the Key West Seafood Festival. It doesn't take much of an excuse to go to Key Weird. We know a trip to Key Weird is always a party day, so we always have a DD. No, not a drunk driver, but a designated driver. Vicki is always a champ and comes to our rescue. Thanks Vicki! She always gets us home safe. We have been enjoying all of our new and old friends while here and we never lack for something to do. We are looking forward to seeing Sea Pearl with Joe, Julia, and Cassie and Godiva's buddy Salty, who will be arriving this week. The weather has been great and it's supposed to be in the mid to upper 70's and calm winds for the next seven days, so I see some fishing in our future. (Let's go fishing!) Tonight a bunch of us are going to Banana Bay (or somewhere else) to check it out for the first time for some music, maybe a drink or a few, and sunset in Paradise.
I wish all of our friends and family fighting the cold and snow up North could be here with us to enjoy this gorgeous weather and fun.

Stephanie, enjoying a conch salad at the Key West Seafood Festival. Not as good as in the Islands Mon, But soon Mon, soon.

Norm, enjoying a cold one at the Festival.

Two beauties at the Festival.

Can't go to Key Weird without a stop at the Half Shell for an oyster fix. Who is that guy behind the sign? That be me!

Fun at our favorite haunt, Schooners Wharf.

Cheese Head in Key Weird. Southernmost Packer Backer.

Always nice to catch Michael McCloud at Schooners Wharf.

OOPS! How did that get into my blog. Oh, I remember now. This one was for Joe. Wish you were here.

Life after New Year's

Yes, we survived after a fun (no, our clothes didn't fall off) New Year's Eve.
We have been busy the last few days with boat chores, dock parties, welcoming new arrivals, playing at the beach, exploring on the tender, fishing, happy hours, and enjoying the beautiful weather we have had this week. Life is good, but I think we need to take a day off. NOT! Life's 2 short (where have I heard that before?) to let a day go by without enjoying it to the fullest.
I won't give you a long detailed blog. I will let the pictures do the talking. I need to go to the engine room and change out a raw water pump. wanna help?

A trip to Key West for boat parts wouldn't be complete without at least one stop at an old haunt. Hogfish tacos. YUMM!

The last time we were here Doug and Tammy were with us. Miss you guys

Nice fish Norm, but it's two inches short of the limit. We did catch about twenty keepers out of the one hundred we caught.

This one would have been a keeper if something hadn't bit the back half off. A little later a four foot shark swam up to the tender looking for more. I don't think I will dangle my feet in the water.

Now all we need now is Hootie, Norm caught the blow fish.

New cruisers are coming in every day. Time for a sunset dock party!

A sunset dock party wouldn't be complete without blowing the conch horns.

Fun with cruising friends at Keys Fisheries. Stone crab claws, sushi, drinks, and lots of laughs.

A beer drinking dog takes his place at the bar. Only in the Keys!

Godiva playing with her new friend at the dog beach.

Cassie couldn't find any fish, so she decided to chase a kite boarder.

Now that's a deal!

Dinner on Tide Hiker to dine on the catch of the day, mangrove snapper, (from the fishermen extraordinaire) and a fun night of lots of laughs and a game dominoes with Norm and Vicki. Fun night and great dinner guys. Thanks!

New Years in Marathon

Well, it's 2011, and we had another fun New Years Eve. The night started off fairly calm with drinks and apps on the fly bridge of September Song on a beautiful, calm, warm December 31st. After a few drinks, apps, and lots of laughs, we headed for the Sunset Bar and Grill. We had a great dinner, but it was a little too quiet for us, so we all headed for the Tiki Bar at Boatman's Resort. Some of the locals we met last year were there, and they were all in the New Years Eve partying spirit. Hickory dickory dock, the mouse ran up the clock. The clock struck twelve, the clothes fell off, and in the pool they went. The pictures I posted were edited to R from X rated to protect the not-so-innocent. For a nominal fee, or a Captain and Coke, you can arrange for a private viewing of the untouched, all showing, let it all hang out pictures. What a hoot!
Well, another memorable New Years Eve is in the history books of September Song, and we want to wish all our friends and family a Happy New Year. May all your wishes for the coming year come true, and your clothes don't fall off.
Jay and Nancy, you need to get down here and calm this crowd down. (NOT)

Me and my love with the Elton John look.

New arrivals to our Marina, Lynn and Jack. They're still in training

Fred and Candy. They live on a really cool boat house in our marina.

Teacher and student. Never could do the hula hoop thing, but it was fun watching my teacher.

Give it a try Lynn.

Fred, Candy, and Tom watching the unveiling. Don't look Mabel! Too late.

Some people dress up for New Years Eve. Some undress. They're getting ready, or is it unready, for their midnight swim.
