Notice the time stamp on the sunset picture. By 7:40 PM it was calm and we had a beautiful sunset. You wouldn't know we just had a storm. The only evidence was the salt all over September Song. We celebrated by grilling a couple t-bone steaks and corn on the cob. Sunday morning we started the process of raising the anchors. After two and one half hours, lots of washing off mud, and having to lift the fortress off the bottom with the 1000# davit, we were ready to go. For a while I didn't think we were going to get the fortress off the bottom. The fortress could have held a boat twice our size. We were not going anywhere in the storm. Because of the time of day the decision was made to go back to Dowry Creek Marina, about 30 minutes away. We wanted to clean all the salt off the boat, clean up and put things back together. Today after the anchor war (we won) and arriving at Dowry Creek we cleaned the entire outside of the boat, took the fortress apart and stowed the giant, and then took a little time to relax on the front porch of the marina and chatted with our neighbors. September song was so happy after her bath and we were so tired. Early to bed, early to rise and off to our next stop, New Bern NC. See you there.
