Time to go cruising

If you are ready, we are ready. We've been doing a little exploring by car, waxing, (I'M DONE!) some miscellaneous maintenance jobs, and staying out of the cold. It's not always Paradise here. A cold front dropped the temps to the mid 60's during the day and in the 40's at night. That probably sound warm to some of you up North. (sorry) By the end of the week it is going to return to the low 80's.
How long is long enough to stay at a dock? I think it is something inside of us that makes us want to feel the boat moving under us again, the feel of the breeze in our faces and the call of what can be found beyond the horizon to explore. As soon as this weather passes (looks like Saturday) we are casting off the lines, putting the pointy end of September Song to sea, and see what we shall see and explore what is ahead of us. We loved our stay in Marathon and enjoyed all the people we met, the fishing, diving and exploring, but it is time to go. The beyond is calling and we are going to take the call. The weather is going to keep us from going to the Dry Tortuga's but we will be back hopefully next winter and we will do that trip then. The plan is to go from here to the Little Shark River, Marco Island to see Stephanie's best friend from high school, and then to Naples where we are going to meet up with Marcia, my sister and Bill and Jack and Marlene, my cousins, while they are on vacation in Naples. We are looking forward to seeing them again.

  1. I'm sorry we haven't gotten together - each time I read your blog your days were packed! And we don't get down that way very often. Happy cruising - are you coming back this way to head to the Bahamas? We are planning an April 1 departure - on or there abouts - will wait for that weather window!

  2. PS We have cruised the Shark River - a WONDERFUL trip - and yes, do come back to the Dry Tortugas - like Texas - a whole other country!!!
